TYPE OF EVENT & VENUE A classic On 2 salsa social held in a large dance studio with wooden floor & pro sound system.
MUSIC Almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha, bachata & merengue.
DANCE PERFORMANCES Sometimes.  They would be listed on our Main Calendar.
DJ Usually DJ Ray Suave but also sometimes there are others such as DJ Alejandro, DJ Mar Y Soul or DJ Woody and DJ Scotti.
BAND Usually not.
DANCE FLOOR One fairly large studio wooden dance floor.  See PHOTO
PRICES $10 normally.  Possibly more on special occasions.
BEVERAGES AND FOOD A selection of beverages is available for cash or credit card.
DRESS CODE Casual

Almost entirely "New York On 2" timing and style.

DESCRIPTION The Balmir Latin Dance Studio teaches mambo On 2 "NY style" as well as other dances which are currently popular.  It has been expanding in terms of classes, students, instructors and performance teams.  They now have several performing groups which have danced in many locations in the NY metropolitan area.  Click on Performing Teams for more info. 

They invite the salsa dancers from all over to join them at their monthly socials which usually feature performances by guest teams as well as their own, as well as many hours of classic salsa for the social dancers.
 

HOW TO GET THERE Held at the Balmir Latin Dance Studio, 959 Flatbush Avenue (between Snyder Avenue & Albemarle Road), 2nd floor, in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, 11226.  Click Here For Map .

The closest train is the Q train to the Church Avenue Station.  Then walk along Church Avenue, past Ocean Avenue, to Flatbush Avenue.  Turn right and walk 1 1/2 blocks to the studio, which is on your left, up on the 2nd floor.  There are also MTA city buses which run along Flatbush and Church Avenues.
