DATE OF EVENT Usually held on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  See our Main Calendar for exact dates.
TIME Social dancing 8:30 PM to 12:00 midnight.  Partnerwork & style salsa class 7:30 - 8:30 PM in separate room.  Showtime at 10:30 PM.

Held at Cumbe Dance Center, 558 Fulton Street (near Flatbush Avenue), 2nd Floor, in the downtown area of Brooklyn, NY  11217.

TYPE OF EVENT & VENUE A mambo dancing event by long-time New York On 2 performer, choreographer and instructor Cynthia "La China" from NYSalsaBaby Dance, inviting dancers from all over.  Held in a 3000 square foot dance space with a smooth wooden sprung floor and professional sound system.
MUSIC Main room:  Almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha.  2nd Room:  Bachata, merengue & Latin mix.
DANCE PERFORMANCES Yes.  They will be happening promptly at 10:30 PM, so come early.  They are listed on our Main Calendar.
DJ DJ J. Antonio "Mr. Ataca" and WMD Team DJs and sometimes guest DJs.  They are listed on our Main Calendar.
BAND None.
DANCE FLOOR Held in a 3000 square foot dance studio space with a smooth sprung wooden dance floors which are "medium to fast speed".
PRICES Admission is reasonable & typical for a studio event with performances.  There will be a raffle plus free giveaways.  Take advantage of early-bird special and group discounts offered. There will be a raffle for T-shirts and FREE classes.
BEVERAGES AND FOOD Cash beverages available plus free water from the water fountain.  Bathrooms & shower.
DRESS CODE Casual, come as you are.

DANCE TIMING

This is an On 2 party inviting the pure mambo dancers from all over NYC.

DESCRIPTION Cynthia "La China" is a long-time New York and Brooklyn On 2 performer, choreographer and instructor who has worked with the Jami Josephson's "The Rhythm Divas",  Revelation Dancers, Duplessey's Saocco Dancers and the Enixe Dance Company.  She is an On 2 instructor in Manhattan and Brooklyn. 

This party is for everyone who enjoys dancing to hot salsa rhythms and cool cha cha beats, in a fun and festive atmosphere.  Whether you’re a seasoned dancer, a salsa newcomer or just a music lover looking for a fun time, you are invited to this event.  NYSalsaBaby Parties are all about having fun, learning cool moves, meeting new friends and dancing with fellow salsa lovers. Added bonus: professional dance teams performing salsa numbers for your viewing pleasure at 10:30pm.  That means plenty of On 2 dancers to dance with.

Please Note Shoe Policy:  Please help Cumbe Dance Studio preserve their new hardwood floors by bringing your dance shoes.  No stilettos or thin heels will be allowed in the studio, and all street shoes will be wiped down before entering studio.  Please bring soft-soled dance shoes.  If you don't have soft-soled dance shoes, then bring shoes you can dance in (but no stiletto heels/thin heels). We recommend shoes with flat or chunky heel.
 

HOW TO GET THERE Please Note:  This event is right over the Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges in downtown Brooklyn, about 5 minutes from lower Manhattan.  It is not far away; it's easy to get to by car or public transportation.

Held at Cumbe Dance Center, 558 Fulton Street (near Flatbush Avenue), 2nd Floor, in the downtown area of Brooklyn, NY  11217.  Click Here For Map .  The closest subways are the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains to Nevins Avenue Station.  A block or so farther away are the B, Q and R trains to the DeKalb Avenue Station.  MTA buses go up and down Fulton, Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues.\

Street parking everywhere after 7;00 PM (Livingston St., Schmerhorn St., Atlantic Ave., Nevins St., Bond St.).  Meter parking until 10 PM on Flatbush Avenue.
