TYPE OF EVENT & VENUE  A classic salsa social held in a newly built dance studio with excellent wood floor & pro sound system.
MUSIC Mostly pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha, bachata & merengue.
DANCE PERFORMANCES Very occasionally. They would be listed on our Main Calendar.
DJ "DJ Negro Malo" - Nelson Cruz.
BAND None.
DANCE FLOOR One good size "medium speed" wood dance floor.
PRICES $15 in advance (before 5:30 on the day of the social), $20 at the door.  Part of the admission money goes to charity.
BEVERAGES AND FOOD Cash beverages available.
DRESS CODE Casual

Almost entirely "New York On 2" timing and style.

DESCRIPTION These events are classic On 2 mambo socials held at the newly built Salsa In Queens dance studio on Steinway Street, one of the main streets in Astoria Queens, with the subway station just 1/2 a block nearby.  Jean Franco Vergaray hosts this party and invites all the mambo dancers to come and party; all are welcome.  He is the founder and director of Salsa In Queens.  They also hold salsa events in nearby restaurants and clubs on various evenings of the week.  See the Events Section of their web site www.SalsaInQueens.com for a complete listing.  The music at this social is by professional "DJ Negro Malo" - Nelson Cruz played on a pro sound system.  The social starts out with a class taught by Jean Franco Vergaray followed by dancing until 2:00 AM.  The motto for their parties is "We sure know how to have fun."

Closest subway is the M & R trains to the Steinway Street station 1/2 block away from the studio.
The studio is only a couple of blocks from the intersection of Northern Blvd. & Steinway Street if you are coming by car.  Easiest route from Manhattan would be across the Queensboro Bridge (lower roadway), then onto Northern Blvd, then turn left onto Steinway Street and go a couple of blocks.  The studio would be on your right.
