WHAT'S UP IN THE  AUGUST/SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER ISSUE:  Welcome to the New York Congress Issue of the SalsaNewYork Magazine.  Yep, the New York Congress is back.  What's different about it this time is that salseros from both here and around the world can enjoy the event in the very heart of Manhattan and not upstate some two hours away from the city.  Many local instructors and dance companies will be participating at what we hope will be the best NY Congress yet.  To help celebrate, Steve and I have worked hard to gather both original material and locate links to other articles of interest for our mambo dancing readership.  This month we have plenty of material related to the NY Salsa Congress; links to Celia Cruz web site, online Salsa Radio Station geared to dancers; Cyber-interviews on Bernard Martinez, NY Salsa Congress promoter David Melendez and SalsaNewYork Co-Host Steve Shaw; Behind the scene photos of Addie Diaz's second music video; Jai & Candy Instructional DVD Product review; Photo links; New On2 websites, tips on dancing and much, much more.  So, as I always like to say to our readers, "take a break from your dancing, sit back and enjoy the read".  See ya on the dance Floor. - Manny

Manny’s Life on the Fast Lane
Many of you may have noticed that I'm roughly three weeks behind schedule when it comes to this issue.  Sorry about that.  Things have been hectic for me (and I wouldn't have it any other way) since I last wrote this column.  I spent almost a month down in Arkansas coordinating a Billy Bob Thorthan movie (
Chrystal).  Since I arrived back in NY I stunt coordinated From Other Worlds, Nights of Phnom Penh America Brown, plus two Rock Star video motion capture jobs (Max Payne 2, Manhunter) and put in two days as a stuntman on an episode of HBO's Sopranos.  I'm currently juggling several stunt coordinating jobs in NY which include The Best Thief in the World, Satan's Little Helper, The Motel, Laws of Gravity and Duane Incarnate.  In Early August I'm headed to Salt Lake City to Coordinate another boxing movie called Paradise.  I actually got the job because of the work I put into John Leguizamo's HBO Boxing movie UNDEFEATED.  Then its back to NY to participate in the NY Congress and begin rehearsing for the European debut of Latin Madness as well as the 4th NY run of Latin Madness.  And can you believe that in the middle of all this mayhem I was able to produce, plan, shoot and direct Addie Diaz's 2nd demo music video "No Me Queda Mas"
Editing for the music video begins immediately after I publish this issue.

Sincerely,
Manny Siverio
